Shaheed Diwas 2020: India got its Independence on August 15, 1947, but the first spark of the revolution, the Indian Mutiny, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny began in 1857. And after 200 long years of slavery, oppression, and colonization came to an end.

The day is observed to commemorate the sacrifice made by three freedom fighters – Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, for their contribution to India’s independence from the British colonial rule.
