Coronavirus LIVE Updates- The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed a total of 10,080 lives worldwide, most of them in Europe (over 5,000) and Asia (3,431). Italy is the worst affected with 3,405 fatalities, followed by China with 3,248, the initial epicentre of the outbreak. In India, the total number of deaths stands at 4, while the number of infections reported is 236 so far.
Responding to the rapid spread of the coronavirus and the PM’s call for ‘Janata Curfew‘, the Delhi government decided to shut Metro services on Sunday, March 22, even as the total number of cases in the Capital rose to 14.
Maharashtra, which has the highest number of cases, is under partial lock down, with shops, establishments, and offices in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur ordered to remain shut till March 31 by the Uddhav Thackeray-led state government. Essential services such as groceries, milk centres, pharmacies, and banks are exempt from the restrictions which come into effect today at midnight. All government offices in the state will function with 25 per cent attendance and local trains and buses will continue to operate as usual in Mumbai.

Delhi Update

1) The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital on Thursday rose to 20, according to the Delhi Health Department.  These cases include six people from outside the city, two from Kolkata and one each from Punjab and Rajasthan. The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital has thus risen to 20, it said. By Thursday night, the number of cases of the deadly virus in the city stood at 14.
2) Out of the total 20 cases, four have been discharged and one had died earlier.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the current situation and preparedness for Covid19 with chief ministers of various states, through a video conference, the Delhi health Department said in a statement.
3) A total of 15,404 samples from 14,514 individuals have been tested for SARS-CoV2 as on 20th March 2020 6 PM IST. A total of 236 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases, shows a report by the ICMR.
