Netflix releases the first footage from their upcoming comedy A Family Affair, featuring a steamy moment between Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.
New footage from the upcoming Netflix film A Family Affair shows Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman having an affair. Efron is an actor who has flaunted his sex symbol status in films like Baywatch and Neighbors, and Kidman is a decorated actress with five nominations under her belt and a win for Best Lead Actress in The Hours. The two have previously collaborated on the Southern Gothic drama The Paperboy, which was directed by Lee Daniels and released in 2012.
Today, Netflix shared a video titled “Save the Dates,” which revealed release information about a ton of upcoming films including A Family Affair, which hits the streaming platform on November 17.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
The date announcement was accompanied by two clips, the first involving Kidman and Efron having an awkward interaction with co-star Joey King at what appears to be a wedding. The next scene shows the two of them sharing a passionate kiss in a hallway before being walked in on by King, who has a comically oversized reaction and ends up hitting her head in her attempt to escape the room.
Everything We Know About A Family Affair
A Family Affair, which was previously only referred to as Untitled Netflix Romcom, also stars Liza Koshy and Oscar winner Kathy Bates. The plot of the film will involve King as a young woman who works for a movie star (Efron) only to have her life immensely complicated when that star falls in love with her mother (Kidman). The film seems to be a rom-com involving a tangled romantic web, like Netflix’s previous 2018 rom-com Set It Up, which starred Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch as two assistants who play matchmaker with their bosses in order to get better treatment.
The project didn’t begin filming until late 2022, which may explain why it won’t be coming out for another 10 months. A Family Affair was written by Carrie Soloman (who has also been tapped for the untitled Margot Robbie Ocean’s 11 film) and Richard LaGravenese (Water for Elephants, Behind the Candleabra, Disenchanted). LaGravenese will also be on hand to direct, marking his first time in the director’s chair since the 2014 Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan musical The Last Five Years.
Every Upcoming Zac Efron & Nicole Kidman Project
Considering how much time there is between now and the release of A Family Affair, there will likely be at least one project featuring either Kidman or Efron coming out in the meantime. Kidman does have two more 2023 projects on the docket, including the CIA series Lioness as well as reprising her role as Atlanna in the upcoming DC Universe film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, due in theaters on December 25. Efron’s upcoming projects don’t have release dates yet, but they include the wrestler biopic The Iron Claw and the reality adventure series Killing Zac Efron.
